Local Codex configuration

• Backed up /Users/richh/.codex/config.toml to /Users/richh/.codex/config.toml.bak-canonical-default-20260830T153241-0400.
• Changed desktop.hotkey-window-projectless-default-enabled from true to false.
• Added CODEX_CANONICAL_DEV_HOST, CODEX_CANONICAL_DEV_ROOT, and CODEX_CANONICAL_PROJECT_ID identifiers without adding credentials.
• Added executable launcher /Users/richh/.local/bin/codex-rdmsm4x.
• Pinned the existing saved remote dev project for rdmsm4x in the Codex sidebar.
• Validated strict config parsing with the bundled Codex CLI and verified /opt/homebrew/bin/codex plus /Users/richh/dev on rdmsm4x through a login shell.

Relay and verification

• Used SSH/rsync with no --delete during transfer.
• Excluded .git administration, reproducible build/package caches, host-local environment/credential-shaped files, and native provider histories.
• Final point-in-time destination inventory: 78,302 regular files and 10,971,804,797 regular-file bytes; destination disk use reported 10 GB.
• Ran rsync -acn --delete --itemize-changes in dry-run mode for all six source/payload pairs after the final incremental update; all reported zero created, deleted, or transferred files at 2026-08-30 15:54:30 EDT.
• Recorded that com.eastcoastscience.offhostwatch remains loaded on its normal 600-second interval and may subsequently advance three ephemeral files under _ops/fleetwatch; the monitor was not disabled or reconfigured.
• Verified zero .git administration entries and zero excluded credential-shaped filenames in the payload.
• Verified matching SHA-256 hashes between local and destination copies of the migration handoff, final verification, task catalog, exclusion policy, transfer log, and checksum log.
• Sent completion message 20260830-154746-24EF287B to codex@rdmsm4x and claude@rdmsm4x, then completed a five-peer fleet-mail sync.

Task and process checkpointing

• The local shared-capabilities Codex task stopped and wrote REBOOT-SAFE-CHECKPOINT-2026-08-30-1529.md; a compact human-readable checkpoint was added to its task history.
• The remote Tyrell task is on rdmsm4x and was left idle/remote; its native history was not copied.
• The local LogTTY agy orchestrator continued writing during the first checksum pass. Project-owned Milestones 1–4 were recorded PASS; Milestone 5 was still incomplete.
• Wrote RESTART-CHECKPOINT-2026-08-30-1544.md, then sent SIGINT to agy PID 98504 after no test child remained. The process exited. The final portable tree was incrementally synced and reverified.
• All four local Codex automations were already PAUSED; none was enabled, duplicated, or modified.
• Two low-CPU interactive agy shells and the running LogTTY app were left intact because they were not active project writers; an orderly macOS restart will terminate them.

Native-provider boundary

Native Codex/ChatGPT/Claude/agy transcripts, rollout/session databases, auth.json, cookies, approvals, credentials, and private provider state were not copied or merged. A 66-row task/conversation pointer catalog was delivered instead, containing provider IDs, titles, status, host connector, workspace, and timestamp.

Backups and recovery

• Local config rollback: /Users/richh/.codex/config.toml.bak-canonical-default-20260830T153241-0400.
• Remote preservation copy: /Users/richh/dev/_migration/conflicts/rdmbair15m5-20260830T153241-0400 on rdmsm4x.
• The historical Codex-state-backup skill referenced /Users/richh/dev/_ops/backup/claude_state_backup.zsh, but that script was not present locally or on rdmsm4x; the targeted config backup and verified portable relay were used instead.

Undo

1. Restore the timestamped config.toml backup if the canonical-default behavior is unwanted.
2. Remove or ignore /Users/richh/.local/bin/codex-rdmsm4x if the launcher is unwanted.
3. Leave the destination intake quarantined; do not integrate it. Deleting it requires a separate explicit approval because it is now a preservation copy.
4. Resume LogTTY only by re-reading its restart checkpoint, reconciling the expired writer lock, and accepting changes project-by-project against canonical LogTTY.

Outstanding owner actions

• Restart rdmbair15m5 when ready.
• After restart, begin with read-only task/process/config checks. Do not automatically re-enable paused automations.
