Summary: Tyrell's Day-1 engine was designed, spec'd, built, tested, and launched onto all six fleet Macs in one evening session (~19:00–20:10 EDT 2026-08-24); rdmsm4x runs server+self-index, five clients auto-inventory and sync unique content into a CAS on rdmsm4x. Fleet quiesce directive broadcast per Rich, superseding the 00:46 halt.

What changed (per host)

• Repo (rdmsm4x, canonical): ~/dev/apps/Tyrell, branch day1-engine (~15 commits, local only — nothing pushed). SwiftPM package: TyrellCore lib, tyrelld daemon, tyrell CLI, TyrellBar menu-bar app. 37 Swift Testing tests green. Spec/PRD at docs/superpowers/specs/2026-08-24-tyrell-day1-design.md (§1–§24), plan at docs/superpowers/plans/2026-08-24-tyrell-day1-engine.md, evidence at docs/DAY1-ACCEPTANCE.md.
• Every host: repo rsynced to ~/dev/apps/Tyrell; release build on-host; LaunchAgent com.eastcoastscience.tyrelld installed (RunAtLoad+KeepAlive), logs at ~/Library/Logs/Tyrell/; ~/.tyrell/ created (config.json, token mode 600, on clients scp'd from rdmsm4x — value never printed anywhere).

Synced to rdmbair15m5/rdmpw3265m/rdmpw3275m at 19:14; rdmbair13m5/jdmbair13m5 were unreachable then (both reachable + deployed by 20:00).

Verification evidence (times EDT)

• 19:49 tyrell scan --root ~/dev/apps/Tyrell → 111 records/1.2 GB/0.3 s, query hit.
• 19:59 pilot manifest landed: rdmbair15m5 90,331 files/28.2 GB; 20:01 CAS at 7,073 hash-verified blobs (1.1 GB). rdmpw3275m also reporting (16,243 files/10.4 GB).
• 20:12 kill-mid-sync resume PASS: kickstart -k mid-upload; CAS 7,073→7,078+ with zero re-send of landed blobs.
• 20:08 sanity_check.zsh: shasum-verified hash sample PASS, CAS re-hash PASS, secrets-guard PASS (no secret record carries a full hash).
• iperf3 baselines (pilot, Wi-Fi): 28.8 MB/s tailnet / 34.7 MB/s LAN.

Incidents found & fixed during launch (all committed with regression cover)

1. Scanner freeze: NSURLDirectoryEnumerator blocks forever in kernel open() on FIFOs/sockets (~/.codex ipc files) — froze rdmbair15m5 at 44,854 files and rdmsm4x at 144,400. Fix: PosixWalk (opendir/readdir/lstat, never opens non-dirs; dataless skipped via SF_DATALESS) + mkfifo regression test.
2. SQLITE_BUSY: CLI scan + daemon writer contention killed a scan; fix busyMode .timeout(10).
3. launchd race: async bootout → immediate bootstrap = "I/O error 5" on 4 hosts; installer now waits for teardown + retries.

How to undo

Per host: launchctl bootout gui/$UID/com.eastcoastscience.tyrelld; delete ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.eastcoastscience.tyrelld.plist, ~/.tyrell/, ~/dev/apps/Tyrell (clients only), ~/TyrellStore + the DB (rdmsm4x). Repo history is local commits on rdmsm4x day1-engine.

Outstanding owner actions

• Rich: review spec/mockups pages; plug the Air into Ethernet/TB and we recalibrate rates; release or amend the fleet quiesce when ready.
• Session: offline-drain live test result pending (watcher running); merge day1-engine→main after; codex_links ledger entry (Notes "Codex" folder was unreachable from a subagent — retried this session).
